The Cleveland Cavaliers have found their 22nd head coach in franchise history
Monday, the Cavs announced former Michigan head coach John Beilein as the man who will take the reigns from interim head coach Larry Drew. Drew went 19-57 this season after Tyronn Lue, the coach who led the Cavs to their first ever championship back in 2016, was fired after an 0-6 start. Beilein was given a five-year contract.
Beilein coached Michigan for 12 seasons, leading them to two National Championship appearances in 2013 and 2018, losing both games. Beilein is known for having a great offensive basketball mind, his offenses usually center around constant motion and a lot of three-point shots. Beilein is also known for his ability to develop a lot of young talent as many college players under his watch at West Virginia and Michigan have gone on to play in the NBA.
The Cavs are betting on Beilein’s experience to help lead a group of young men into the future. Only time will tell if it will work out for the wine and golders.
