Flashes Fall Short in MAC Championship

The biggest game of the MAC season featured the conference’s biggest rivalry, the Akron Zips and Kent State Golden Flashes. The Zips swept Kent in the regular season, winning both games and taking a one-game lead in the all-time series record. After Buffalo took down No. 1 Toledo in the first semifinal, Kent State handled No. 2 Ball State in the second semifinal, preventing the top two seeded teams from making the MAC Championship Game. The Zips fell behind 2-0 early on, but scored the game’s next eight points to go up six with 15:53 remaining in the first half.  Unfortunately for Akron, those eight points would wind up being half of their first half total.
