The Cleveland Browns host the New York Jets on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Browns (0-1-1) will head into their AFC clash as 3-point favorites over the Jets (1-1). This is the first game the Browns have been favored in since week 3 of last season when they were 1-point favorites on the road vs. the Indianapolis Colts.
The Browns enter week 3 with chatter surrounding the team. Wide receiver Josh Gordon was traded on Monday afternoon to the New England Patriots for a 2019 fifth-round pick after the organization seemed to have lost the little trust they had in the troubled wideout.
The team also cut kicker Zane Gonzalez after Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Saints and signed undrafted rookie Greg Joseph out of Florida Atlantic University.
The Jets come to Cleveland following a tough 20-12 loss at home to the Miami Dolphins. Rookie quarterback Sam Darnold has looked promising through the first two weeks, passing for 532 yards, 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Darnold, notorious for his turnovers at USC, should have his hands full with a Browns defense that has forced a league-high 8 takeaways through the first two weeks.
Through the first two weeks, the Browns have been as competitive as one could hope following the 1-31 record compiled over the last two seasons, and will look to capture their first victory in almost two years on Thursday night.
