Last season, the Browns got a win in Denver in Week 16 against a bad Broncos team.
However, it was a different story for the Browns this year as the Broncos returned the favor Sunday, winning the game 24-19 and dropping the Browns to 2-6 on the season.
For the Broncos, Brandon Allen was making his first NFL start at quarterback as starter Joe Flacco has been ruled out for the season with a neck injury. The Broncos offense surprised the Browns defense at the start of the game as they had a good second drive, scoring a touchdown. The Browns let an average at best rookie quarterback look like John Elway based on the way Denver’s offense was playing. I’m pretty sure the Browns forgot about one of Denver’s best offensive players, Phillip Lindsay, as he went on to rush for 92 yards and scored a touchdown.
For the Browns offense, the struggles that have plagued them all season continued. They made it to the red zone five times yesterday, but they only scored one touchdown the entire game. Most of their points came from field goals. Kicker Austin Seibert looked to be the best offensive player the Browns had on the field Sunday.
In my opinion, the Browns are not using Odell Beckham Jr. enough. Beckham Jr. is a Top 5 wide receiver in the league. So far this season, Beckham Jr. only has one touchdown. Why did the Browns bring him to this team if they are not going to use him properly?
Now, onto head coach Freddie Kitchens. Kitchens has no idea what he is doing as an NFL coach in my estimation. The decisions he is making have no thought in them.
Why would you leave Nick Chubb on the bench on third-down and four and have Dontrell Hilliard run it? Why would you go for it on on fourth-down and one in the third quarter instead of kicking another field goal when your kicker hasn’t missed at all in the game?
I did see some improvements from the Browns in this loss. Quarterback Baker Mayfield did not throw an interception in the game, and the Browns only had 5 penalties.
The Browns have a home game next week against the Buffalo Bills, but I don’t believe it matters. This season is a disaster for the Browns. I will be attending this game and more than likely will be walking out of FirstEnergy Stadium after the game with another Browns loss.
