Show of the Week: The Purdy Good Show

Every week of programming we will be highlighting the Black Squirrel Radio Show of the Week! This week’s show is The Purdy Good Show!

The Purdy Good show airs every Saturday from 2PM-4PM and is hosted by Miles Purdy

Describe your show and tell us how you came up with the concept for it!
Miles: Well, The Purdy Good Show is actually the spiritual successor to my first show, The Golden Blues my first year here. I was trying to do strictly delta blues, and let me tell you, that get’s old quick. Nowadays, I try to play some tunes that are in the ballpark of the blues and an early Rock n’ Roll sound, but it’ll stray out to contemporary stuff often enough. I try to have at least 1 guest on a week to chew the fat on air with, but it doesn’t always work. But that’s kind of the beauty of the thing too; you never know what’s happening each week, but it aught to be good.

How long have you been with BSR?
Miles: Since Fall 2016

What are your majors?
Miles: English Major, Writing Minor

What do you do in your free time?
Miles: I practice a few martial arts styles (Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Renaissance Era Fencing and German Two-Hander). I also snowboard in the winter and pretend I can write short stories and listen to b.s. hipster punk.

Favorite BSR memory?
Miles: Well, that’s a tough one isn’t it? A lot of my favorite moments are just from hanging out in the studio and staff shindigs. One of the better ones was the BSR Block Party we had back in late September. A bunch of us on staff tried to play badminton with what I would safely call the jankiest setup possible. Half of the rackets were missing pieces, and the plastic net looked like it was about to split in half, and the wind was absolutely one-sided. Nearly rolled an ankle. Totally worth it.

What do you hope your BSR legacy is?
Miles: I wouldn’t mind being remembered as a rad dude.More realistically it’ll be the guy who thought Ska was a good idea.

Be sure to tune into The Purdy Good Show Saturdays from 2PM-4PM only on Black Squirrel Radio
