Every week of programming we will be highlighting the Black Squirrel Radio Show of the Week! This week’s show is The Blasian Station!
The Blasian Station airs every Friday from 4PM-6PM and is hosted by Nakiyah Fears, Mint Coursen, and Namu Nanka.
Describe your show and tell us how you came up with the concept for it!
Blasian Station: Our show is about culture and art. We want to share with our listeners different, yet interesting facts about our people, cultures, and also share our chill vibes with everyone. We read poetry, choose certain music artist for the week, and read about different people and facts of the Black and Asian community. It isn’t only about the information we have to give because we also speak of our day and random things that come to mind as well. We’re young college students taking an advantage of using our voice, leaving our marks, and expressing who we are on campus.
How long have you been with BSR?
Blasian Station: Since Fall 2016
What are your majors?
Blasian Station: Advertising, Nursing, Digital Media Production
What do you do in your free time?
Blasian Station: Nakiyah: Write poetry, novels, Netflix, and sleep. Mint: Netflix, meditate, hang with my friends. Namu: Netflix.
Favorite BSR memory?
Blasian Station: The first day and actually, first few weeks of doing the show. We were constantly making mistakes, having technical issues, all while trying to keep our show going smoothly. It was challenging, but funny too. I guess every week we do the show is a favorite memory for us because it’s a new experience and always a different outcome each time.
Have any BSR related plans for next semester?
Blasian Station: Hopefully we will be able to continue our radio show for next semester and maybe be more involved with Black Squirrel Radio in other ways as well.
