Show of the Week: The Amanda Show

Every week of programing we will be highlighting the Black Squirrel Radio Show of the Week

This week’s show is The Amanda Show

The Amanda Show airs Monday from 6pm to 8pm . Host Amanda Beck has been with BSR as a DJ since 2014 and has also been a BSR coordinator and is currently the first ever BSR Fundraising Director, helping the station earn money from various local events. But with her show, The Amanda Show, Amanda highlights a different indie artist every week!

Describe your show:
Amanda: I feature a different indie artist every week and every song or two will be a song of the featured artist.

How did you come up with your show concept:
Amanda: Honestly it was so long ago I don’t even remember.

What do you do in your free time:
Amanda: I listen to music obviously, but I also volunteer at One of a Kind Pets, go to concerts, hang out with friends, go shopping, workout, apply for internships, pretty average stuff.

Who are some of your favorite bands/artists:
Amanda: Oh gosh, it’s gonna be a list. Dave Matthews Band, Bad Suns, The 1975, Young The Giant, COIN, Bastille, Catfish & the Bottlemen, Walk The Moon, Lana Del Rey, The Neighborhood, there’s a lot more but just to list a few!

What is your favorite BSR memory:
Amanda: Probably joining the bsr staff and getting to know them.

How do you decide which bands to feature:
Amanda: I try to pick bands that I’ve been listening to or bands that I like that recently came out with an album. But sometimes it could just be a completely random band.

What do you hope your BSR legacy is:
Amanda: Probably to be the best and first fundraising director ever?

If you could see any band/artist in concert who would it be and why:
Amanda: Ive seen most of my favorite bands but ones I still have yet to see are Lana De Rey, Catfish & the Bottlemen, Coldplay, and Bastille.

Be sure to tune into The Amanda Show on Mondays 6pm to 8pm only on Black Squirrel Radio!
