This week’s show is He v. She
He v. She airs every Thursday from 2pm to 4pm. Hosts Matt Cutler and Kaitllyn Sullivan have been with BSR for over a year, taking part in other shows like Defend Good Music. But this is the first semester of their new program, He v. She!
Describe your show:
Matt: Incredibly awkward relationship advice with all of your favorite throwback pop music.
Kait: He v. She is two awkward people talking about relationships and life problems that we have no qualifications to talk about and lots of throwback music.
How did you come up with your show concept:
Matt: Kait came up with the idea, so she needed a guy to do it with. It sounded like a fun idea so I just rolled with it!
Kait: I came up with the show idea from listening to The Rendezvous and decided I could make a more awkward version with better music with my bestie MattyCutts.
What do you do in your free time:
Matt: I enjoy going to local concert venues to see shows, hang out with my friends, and spending time outside weather it be swimming or riding my bike.
Kait: In my free time I’m at work or on my couch watching Buffy or Charmed.
Who are some of your favorite bands/artists:
Matt: Mayday Parade, Waterparks, As It Is, The 1975, CRUISR, and Bad Suns
Kait: My favorite bands/artists are Ed Sheeran, Bea Miller, Front Porch Step, Hayley Kiyoko.
What are you favorite BSR memories:
Matt: Since I am a campus marketing rep with Insomnia Cookies, my favorite BSR memories would have to be any opportunity that I get to surprise my fellow BSR DJ’s with cookies at the events that BSR puts on.
Kait: My favorite BSR memory is almost exactly a year ago, a few of the music staff and I spent an entire afternoon/evening in the studio playing music and coming up with show ideas.
Describe each other:
Matt: Kait is always making me laugh. We always have awkward times together, and she always has the coolest hair colors!
Kait: Matt is a bearded, awkward, kind, lovable, burping man that enjoys color changing spoons and cold pizza.
Favorite show moment of the semester:
Matt: Kait and I usually introduce our show with:
“Welcome to He. V. She!” (both)
“I’m he.” (Matt)
“I’m she.” (Kait)
“I’m Matt, I’m Kait, and your listening to throwback Thursday, on Black Squirrel Radio.”
I always seem to mess that up, so there was one day where we both said everything seamlessly and we both just looked at each other and started laughing because it was that perfect.
Kait: My favorite moment on the show is every week when we do our show intro and one of us messes it up so we keep doing it until we get it right. Or in week one when we couldn’t stop saying croissant in weird accents.
(Bonus holiday question) What is your dream spring break:
Matt: My dream spring break would be to go somewhere tropical outside of the U.S.
Kait: My dream spring break would be going to Australia and traveling, a new place every day.
