It’s that time of year when the weather is cooler, the leaves are more colorful, and most importantly, everything is spooky! With so many Halloween themed movies and TV shows out there, it can be hard to narrow down what you actually want to watch. Moreover, how can you watch them? That is why I’ve created this guide to help you figure out the best things to watch and how to watch them to get you in the spooky spirit!
13 Nights of Halloween
Thankfully, when ABC Family switched over to Freeform, they kept the wonderful tradition of 13 Nights of Halloween. This is a great outlet if you are not someone who enjoys scary movies but still wants to be festive. Starting from October 19th, Freeform plays a mix of classic movies and Halloween themed TV specials including “Hocus Pocus”, “The Addams Family”, and “Sleepy Hollow”. Find the link to the full 13 Nights of Halloween schedule below.

31 Days of Halloween
As a lover of old, cheesy scary movies, Syfy’s 31 Days of Halloween is a personal favorite of mine. There’s something oddly festive about watching people get ripped apart by chainsaws or attacked by various paranormal creatures. Not to mention that this is every day of October so you can get your spook on pretty early. It’s a great variety ranging from slashers like “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street” to reruns of the “The Twilight Zone”. If you are enjoy all things creepy, morbid, and just a little cheesy, 31 Days of Halloween is for you. Find the link to the full 31 Days of Halloween Schedule below.

An oldie but a goodie, Netflix never fails to provide a wealth of movies and shows for the faint of heart and horror lovers alike. Since there is a seemingly endless amount of content on Netflix, I’ve narrowed down some of my favorites that get me ready for Halloween.

Youtube
Youtube may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Halloween, but it is the perfect outlet for people who don’t like super scary movies or who don’t have the time to devote to an entire movie or series. Many creators like Zoella release Halloween videos around this time of year that range from fall homeware hauls to pumpkin carving contests. Buzzfeed Unsolved is also a great series to watch on Youtube if you are more into true stories and real life encounters.
Hopefully this guide has given you some ideas on the best media to get you in the Halloween spirit. Happy Halloween!
