Since the beginning, music has always been a passion for Pittsburgh native, Aysie. Coming from a musical family, she had early exposure to a collective of genres, i.e. Hip Hop, R&B, Soul, and Reggae. Early on she discovered she had a niche for music after singing in her church choir for several years.
Growing up, she participated in musical programs like Carnegie Mellon’s Arts GreenHouse. The program where it all started, however, was HipHop on L.O.C.K. Programs like these helped develop Aysie’s skills as a singer, songwriter, and rapper. “Music was a natural inclination for me, but I think the shifting moment for me was definitely when I started Hip Hop on L.O.C.K in middle school. We got the opportunity to record at an actual recording studio and you know that’s crazy as a kid just having that experience so young. That’s where I fell in love with music and the craft.”
In 2019, Aysie would make a name for herself in the Pittsburgh hip-hop scene after her popular summer jam “Tequila”. The song follows the story of a young lady who is so vibrant and confident that people feel captivated or in this case, intoxicated in her presence. The song first gained traction on Soundcloud. After the overwhelming amount of success it had, Aysie decided to put the song on Spotify where she received over 20,000 streams. Since then Aysie has released a few other jams like “LA Living” and “Memory Lane”, to further grow her catalog.
“So tequila was a song I wrote when I was like 16. I actually found the beat on youtube when I was looking up a Kanye West type beat and I had found one titled “Tequila”. That’s kind of where I got the idea to write the song, but I don’t drink or smoke, so I didn’t want to fabricate and make a story about being drunk. I decided to make myself “Tequila” and use it as wordplay to describe how intoxicating (beautiful) I am and just gas myself up.”

“At this time I was on my J-cole, thinking all my music had to be super lyrical. I liked the song, but I did feel like it was kind of corny. So I wasn’t gonna drop this song at first because I didn’t feel the quality was there, but so many people were just telling me to just ‘release the song, release the song’. So I dropped the song and it just blew up from there.”
Since then, Aysie has taken a bit of a hiatus and began pursuing her degree in Engineering Physics with a minor in Audio Production at Xavier University. After college, Aysie plans on moving to LA and further pursuing her career in music and engineering.
The MC has a wide variety of influences to her eclectic sound and dedicates her music to artists like A Tribe Called Quest, Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley, Nas, Amerie and so much more. These acts have shaped Aysie to become a vibrant newcomer to the hip-hop scene as she continues to grow as an artist.
