BSR Show of the Week: Traffic Jamz

This week’s show is Traffic Jamz
Traffic Jamz is a themed show hosted by two best friends who highlight a different genre every week. Hosts Ava Pernotto and Madeleine McBride have been with the station for two semesters and you can tune into their program on Fridays from 6 to 8pm!
Describe your show:
Traffic Jamz is about finding new music to listen to. We play a new genre or playlist every week so we can expand our audience’s music taste (and spill some tea).

How did you come up with your show concept:
We both listen to a wide range of genres. We wanted to create a show that was diverse in music taste. We hope that when someone is in a “jam” and they don’t know what music to listen to next, they can tune in to Traffic Jamz and find something new.

What do you do in your free time:
Both of us work at the Kent Market 2, upstairs in the Student Center. We also love playing video games, going to concerts, and hanging out with our friends.

Who are some of your favorite bands/artists:
Ava’s favorites are Cage The Elephant, Kacey Musgraves, Miley Cyrus, Rex Orange County, and Clairo. Maddy’s favorites are Seether, Father, Muse, and Ariana Grande. We both come together over Childish Gambino, Beck, Coleman Hell, Zeds Dead, Post Malone, 21 Savage, and alt-J.

What was your favorite show moment:
Our favorite BSR moment was playing Dubstep fall semester 2018 and hosting our own rave in the studio. Then finding out we ended up on the Top 20 that week. We also love bringing on guests and listening to music with our friends.

What is your favorite thing about BSR:
Our favorite thing about BSR is how welcoming the community is. We love having the outlet to express ourselves and our music taste.

What is your dream car:
Ava’s dream car is just having a car, she really needs one. Maddy’s dream car is a Volkswagen Golf GTI.

What were your favorite show themes:
Alternative Rock is one of our favorite show themes because it’s easy for us to make a great playlist for. It’s mutually one of our favorite genres to play.

If you could travel anywhere where would it be and why:
Ava would want to travel to the mountains of Switzerland. She went there Summer 2017 and all she has ever wanted to do is go back. She thinks being in the mountains is unreal and unbelievably beautiful. Maddy wants to travel to Tokyo because she has always been interested in Japanese food and culture. Maddy is interested in the origins of some of her favorite video games and shows.

Maddy is inspired by how she overcomes her anxiety with grace and poise. Ava’s dream celebrity to be friends with is Miley Cyrus because she has been listening to her music since she was in middle school. Miley seems like a very wise and interesting person to talk to. Ava is very inspired by her because of her music career and Happy Hippie Foundation.
