Show of the Week: Dr. B’s Crib: Almost Live
Written by Brooke Forrest on October 11, 2016
Every week of programing we will be highlighting the Black Squirrel Radio Show of the Week!
This week’s show is Dr. B’s Crib: Almost Live
Dr. B’s Crib: Almost Live airs Thursdays from 2pm to 4pm. Host Braylon Lee (aka Dr.B) and his co-hosts Aja Labrador (aka Aja Lee Marie), Assata Amani and Larry Lee have been at BSR for three semesters. Braylon describes their program as ‘life: discussing dating, relationships, success… and so much more.’
How did you come up with your show name/DJ name?
Braylon: My show name came from thinking of a way to take my childhood plus what I have learned and put it on the radio plus the almost live name is a play on not being on terrestrial radio. My DJ Name was created by two guys from an old skool show that I did an internship for. They saw that I could relate music to life while giving an opinion on anything and everything in life. The way I describe Dr. B is he is a bold, outspoken and empathic person who doles out advice on life.
How would you describe your show?
Braylon: I take conversations that people have everyday from kitchen tables to workplaces and put them on air. I use conversation, comedy and heart on each and every show that I do. The show is designed to be an environment where people can be themselves.
Who are some of your favorite bands/artists?
Braylon: Jill Scott, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and Toni Braxton
Assata: Aaliyah, Jhene Aiko, Beyoncé, Partynextdoor, Tupac, Kendrick Lamar and J Cole
Aja: Chance the rapper, drake and jazmine sullivan
What is your best musical/pop culture related medical advice?
Braylon: Listen to music that you speaks to you. I always think of my mood before I choose my music because what maybe my release, I have to be careful how others interpret what I listen to.
If you could have any famous figure on your show who would it be?
Braylon: Steve Harvey and Salma Hayek
Assata: Gabrielle Union
Aja: I would have Michelle Obama on.
